పూర్వకాలంలో మహిష్మతి అనే నగరాన్ని మహారాజు మహిష్మాన్ పాలించేవాడు. అతనికి నలుగురు కుమారులు ఉండగా, పెద్ద కుమారుడు లుంబకుడు. అయితే లుంబకుడు దురాచారాలతో జీవించేవాడు. మద్యం సేవనం, వేట, జూదం వంటి చెడు అలవాట్లకు లోనయ్యాడు. అతని ప్రవర్తనను భరించలేక మహారాజు అతన్ని రాజ్యంనుంచి వెళ్లగొట్టాడు.

📜 Story of Saphala Ekadashi
In ancient times, there was a powerful king named Mahishman, who ruled the kingdom of Mahishmati. He had four sons, and the eldest was Lumbaka. Unfortunately, Lumbaka was a man of bad character. He indulged in drinking, gambling, hunting, and immoral activities.
Disappointed by his behavior, the king banished Lumbaka from the kingdom. Left with no shelter, Lumbaka wandered into the forest. He survived by eating fruits and roots, suffering from hunger and poverty.
One day, on the Krishna Paksha Ekadashi of Margashirsha month, Lumbaka could not find any food. He spent the entire night awake under a tree, tormented by hunger. Unknowingly, he observed Ekadashi fasting and night vigil.
The next day, he managed to find some fruits but by then, the spiritual merit of Ekadashi had already begun to cleanse his sins. Over time, his destiny changed. He regained his kingdom, ruled righteously, and ultimately attained salvation (moksha) by the grace of Lord Vishnu.
This sacred story teaches us that even accidental observance of Saphala Ekadashi can transform one’s life if done with sincerity.
